Construction Materials and Concrete Technology
Objective of this course is to familiarize students with physical properties and mechanical
behavior of various construction materials. Concrete constituents such as cement, aggregates, water,
admixtures, and aspects related to fresh and hardened concrete (i.e. mixing, handling, casting, curing,
standards, testing, strength, deformation, durability and quality control) are discussed in detail in class.
Other construction materials discussed in the course include Wood, Metals, and Today's material (FRP, PCM, EPS,
Polymer Concrete, Geo-Textile, ...)

Mechanics of Solids I
This course is concerned
with the mechanics of rigid and deformable solids in a state of equilibrium.
During this course the concepts of stress and strain will be introduced as
will stress-strain relations describing the static behavior of elastic
bodies. Also, Different types of loads such as tension, compression, bending
and torsion will be invetigated in numerous practical engineering
problems.

Foundation Engineering
Foundation Engineering is very fundamental subject consisting of selection of proper type of foundation as per sub-soil profile and type of structure. Any civil engineering structure needs strong and stable foundation which depends on proper understanding of soil behaviour, determination and interpretation of soil parameters, determination of stresses in soil.

Materials Testing Laboratory
This course is meant to supplement the students’ understanding and appreciation of material behavior and structural theory through personal contact with and observation of tests on common engineering materials and systems. Concrete mix design and concrete testing are the first topics treated. Included under these topics are concrete aggregate tests, the mechanics of computing mix design quantities, batching and testing of fresh concrete and the actual testing of concrete cylinders. Concrete testing is followed by tests of steel and wood in compression, tension, bending and torsion.
