Work Experience

1997-2000: Different research projects on retrofitting of different industrial structures.

1998-2001: A member of project control committee for seismic vulnerability study of the power plant structures and equipments for the Ministry of Power's research center.

2001-2006: Involved in seismic hazard analysis, preparation of site specific spectra, vulnerability assessment and strengthening of Tehran oil storage depots and their industrial facilities including various oil tanks, pump stations, pressurized vessels, control rooms, warehouses, various administrative and residential buildings, connecting pipelines, non structural components and equipments.

2003-2005: Involved in vulnerability analysis and retrofitting of the Ministry of Oil's Main Central Building (a 18 story concrete structure with over 21000 square meters area). Performing seismic hazard analysis, nonlinear static and dynamic analyses, and retrofitting of the building, foundation and its non-structural components and equipments were among the duties accomplished.

2004-2006:Vunerability analysis and retrofitting of Tehran's main mechanized post office with over 40000 square meters area.

2005-2008: Worked with Iranian Management Services Company in controlling various vulnerability analysis and retrofitting projects all over Iran.

2001-2008: A member of the structural subcommittee for Disaster Mitigation Center, of the Ministry of Interior of Iran.

2001-2014: Worked with the Road, Building and Housing Research Center (BHRC) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning on different research projects as a peer reviewer.

2012-2014: Prepared the Guidelines for Strengthening the Equipments and Nonstructural Components of Urban Housing, under a contract with Building and Housing Research Center (BHRC), The Prepared Criteria is Approved by the Plan and Budget Organization of Iran as Publication No.743 for Engineering Practice.

2010-2013: Evaluation and Damage Mitigation of Gas Pipelines and Distribution Networks Due to Faulting. This project included extensive numerical and experimental work that was completed for the Gas Company of Tehran Province, Tehran, Iran.

2014-2018: Seismic Hazard Analysis and Structural Design Review, Partial Retrofitting and Construction Supervision of the Tehran-Eye Project being built By Ahab Company.

2017- 2019: Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Performance of Lightweight Steel Frames (made of Cold-Formed Steel) Equipped with Different Types of panels under Earthquake Excitations.

2019-2020: Involved in Reviewing the Preparation of Design and Retrofitting Criteria for Existing and New Hospitals Subjected to Earthquake. The project was handled by BHRC under a contract from JAICA.

2019- 2022: Application of Vision-Based Structural Identification Through Image Processing and its Possible Use for Structural Health Monitoring.

2021-Now: Involved in Preparation of the 5th Edition of Iranian Seismic Design Code (Code 2800) regarding the Design of Base Isolated Structures as well as the Design of Structures equipped with Supplemental Damping Systems.

Research Interests

Active and Passive Structural Control, Nonlinear Structural Analysis, Base Isolation, Seismic Vulnerability Analysis and Retrofitting of Structures and Lifelines.
